Re: Rick Owens profile/feature in the New Yorker

Just read it. Great article as it went into quite a bit of detail about his life growing up and why he's at the place he's at now. Mr. Owens has gotta be my favorite designer.

LOL. True dat, I guess I don't really hide the fact I like his clothing/his company. [75]

P.S. I'm sitting here looking through his Womens FW0809 collection and I couldn't help but design a nice asymmetrical shaped, draped jacket. :) I wish I could buy some of those womens pieces.

I read the piece and I thought it was good. Some very interesting details there. I am happy that he walked away from a 10 mil offer for his company - that's mega-turbo of him.

And, I can't believe that bitch put Rick Owens and Marc Jacobs in the same sentence - she is, has always been, and forever will be a pathetic pouser. WTF did Kurt see in her?

Re: Rick Owens profile/feature in the New Yorker

It does highlight what the big fucking deal is about him, Laika, in a way (I think) that Yohji is a big fucking deal to you. There is a consistency between Rick as a man and Rick as a designer, and that's all there is to it. It infuses his clothes with a certain meaning. He put it beautifully and succinctly in the article - "broken idealism." And, if you don't believe in that kind of a thing, I would say it creates
affinity between him and his clothes, and consequently between him and
                    the wearer.

Faust, you are really coming across as hostile.

I am sorry, I don't mean to be [51] You know I respect you. I just think we are all guilty of having our biases, and it seems like you are biased against Rick. And I understand that a lot of our biases are a result of other people hyping stuff up (and SZ is chuck full of that, granted), but that does not make something less biased.

It also seems that you like to egg me on [83] - which could be a good thing, I guess, it makes me think and write more :-). Well, take out the "big fucking deal" out of my post above - does what I said make sense?
