    Rick Owens

I'd like to buy a RO dress for a friend of mine. I've seen one on Yoox. But while I absolutely love the front, the back seems quite strange:

Could anyone tell me what the excess piece of cloth is for? Is it just like that because the size wasn't good for the mannequin?

      Re: Rick Owens

that does look rather strange, like a failed attempt at draping. wouldn't be surprised if will take shape on the body nicely. anyway, i'd caution against ro dresses and skirts, and so would laika.

The front of the dress looks perfect on the mannequin, so my guess is that it's just a bizarre type of ornamentation...there are frequently odd details like that on RO skirts and dresses. It's a pity, because the front does look nice and potentially flattering. [:(]

In general, like Faust said, I would stay far away from the skirts and dresses....even on people who are stick thin and completely uncurvy, they don't look so great.[:^)]

          Ann D. bag

Is this bag still available anywhere? If it still is, how much is it?

            Re: Ann D. bag

This is kind of a ridiculous/stupid question, but - why do certain ideas/trends crop up in multiple collections each season?

For example, there are marble-printed jackets in the Jil Sander FW collection, and a brick-printed jacket in the Margiela FW collection. I'm not sure, but I think I saw someone else doing the same idea. Is that just chance, that they both decided to do photo-printed jackets for Fall? Was it some sort of women's trend that was popular a year ago, or are they both stealing the idea from someone else?

completely agreed. I had one skirt that i used to pull and bunch to avoid that and I ended up selling it because i only wore it once. It was actually almost better as a strapless dress on me.[72] I am not stick thin and every time i tried it on i just did not feel comfortable in it, and I [64] most Rick... I think those pieces also look best on someone who is taller. it helps with the lines...

                Re: Ann D. bag

I believe some companies issue 'trend reports' few seasons in advance that are passed to all the
                major places involved in fashion.

                    Wallets?

Dunno if this deserves a thread or what but, uh, any thoughts on awesome wallets? I lost mine the other day (because I am a total super genius and can't be bothered to keep track of trifling things like credit cards and drivers licenses), and am having trouble finding anything that really grabs me. So what are you chaps rocking?

aahahaha. Faust is right about the MA+ wallets. They're amazing and perfect but the price is getting out of control.

Funny thing I learned about pigskin from the guy that owns a leather shop here.... pigskin is the cheapest leather available. It costs practically nothing.

yes I did get the yohji skirt and i love it but i think i am selling it b/c it is too big or doesnt fit me right. i have to pull it down on my hips and then it does this weird bunchy thing, since i have hips, and if i keep it higher on my waist then it swallows me. maybe i am just not sure of how it should fit, but i think it looks strange on me. That said I soooooo love it and i keep trying to make it feel better on. it has pockets and is full and free [64]... ugh. we'll see what happens. i still seem to be loosing weight too so new clothing is hard for me right now.[72]

I've got a Margiela, too that I picked up on discount in hk. Really thick, brown, raw leather. Ageing nicely!

let us raise a toast to ancient cotton, rotten voile, gloomy silk, slick carf, decayed goat, inflamed ram, sooty nelton, stifling silk, lazy sheep, bone-dry broad & skinny baffalo.

I know right? We'll beat the shit out of Guidi Co.

I found a local leather guy who runs a small shop with a selection of leather that you can buy there along with a few special orders. My girlfriend and I went in there and we ended up talking for over an hour. The guy LOVES his leather.

Next time I stop in, I think I'm going to bring one of my CCP leathers in with me to see what he has to say about it. I've actually had another leather guy in Germany (also a full on leather shop) handle my MA+ wallet and say that the leather wasn't the best [76]

As a by-product of the meat industry, you can imagine that pig skin is plentiful (it has its uses, it's thin but still strong, its quite commonly used as a shoe lining), but a leather is only as cheap as its processing. In MA+ wallets, specialised tanning and finishing could quite dramatically change the cost - especially if it is being processed in small batches. Even so, I doubt materials account for much of that RRP ;)
