Dammit. Now I have to find an aged ebony handled one. SZ is bad for the wallet.

/\ Haha! They are actually cheap in France. If you want I'll bring you one when I go for the men's in June.

Mofiya, mine does close - hence why it's good for picnics.

^ There are quite a few Laguiole makers around, some good and some not so good. Mine's from Fontenille Pataud, pretty basic but they do some models in exotic materials like fossilized mammoth ivory with folded damascus blades if that's your thing.

Haha, lucky coincidence! And another use I hadn't thought of

They're steak knives... so, on the occasion of serving steak?

Edit: Also this thread has prompted me to finally start searching for a replacement to the Laguiole waiter's corkscrew i bought in Paris 7 years ago that turned out to be not-very-high-quality...

Finally found it at a reasonable price. Sorry for the stock pic.

Haven't thought of that. In America, we are not allowed to drink alcohol while picnicking! God forbid we offend our Puritan sensibilities. Think about the children!!!!

It's a hit/miss since they are branding the shit out of it. I just saw this one in a shop window and liked it.
