i was at an anime convention this past weekend and a female friend called my _7 fw10 nylon serge coat "pretentious"--she had just explained to me the nature of her country lolita getup the night before...

Really? I've heard of some of those Lolita girls... pretty damn pretentious about their brand skirts/prints.

Started working at a new office recently so lots of comments and questions on my clothes from new coworkers lately. Best one was "you look like a ninja-biker from an anime". Had to explain twisted seams to some of them today aswell.

i study in a rather small city called Passau, and since i moved here bout one and a half years ago, i never ever got any negative reactions from strangers regarding my clothes, which i find rather astonishing since the term "provincial" is quite applicable for Passau. i actually attract much more wry looks when walking around in Munich or Vienna.

I was getting food last night and I heard someone behind me say, 'Look...Charles Dickens is getting a pizza.'

I'm guessing it may have been the fingerless gloves and the hat. But I was also wearing a CDG boiled wool jacket and some cropped pants with Guidi boots.

So for those keeping score, in my wonderful town, I've been referred to as a chimney sweep, an amish dude and now Charles Dickens.

heckler obviously doesn't understand that charles dickens is not a character in his own novels, i.e. dickens never dressed that like in his adult life.

That was my first thought: "How in the fuck does this redneck know what Charles Dickens wore?"

Maybe even Bob Cratchit or the Artful Dodger?

I did attempt to do this once as well, until a friend remarked "Yeah, just like the Primark jeans". Then I realized the redundancy of what I was saying.
