I loved ME but the third game totally lost me mid way through. As for Andromeda, I dunno... it'll be more of the same i think. I hope it's good but personally im not overly excited for it. I mean Bioware output has been rather mediocre at best on their last 2-3 games.

I am excited for Final Fantasy 15. I really hope i can get lost in these sort of games like i used to when i was a child. The series lost me at the tenth installment and the genre as a whole not long after. Past few years however i got back into JRPG again with games such as Megaten, Digital Devil Saga and Persona (all Atlus games). I am optimistic that FF15 will be good, if that fail i can always play the upcoming Persona 5.

The ACRONYM Designer is in new Deus Ex gameplay trailer lol. Not much into ACRONYM but i must say the coat that the protagonist were wearing in that trailer look slick as frack.

I didn't really enjoy any of the big releases this generation (Metal Gear Solid 5 was the biggest disappointment, that was my favourite franchise ever, MGS2 might be my favourite video game) and late last generation so was feeling a bit bummed out on games. But I had some free time this week as my next job is only starting in a month and downloaded some old favourites, and it reminded me of how great games can be.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - Maybe the best 2d art of any game ever, and just moving around is so much fun (I'm playing the PSN version on my PS3 which is a straight port of the PS1 version, but I heard the version on Xbox Live is a bit better. Either way, it's perfect. Anyone who hasn't played this is missing out.

Deus Ex - Maybe the most atmospheric game ever, each time I play it (probably beat it 4 or 5 times already) I discover something new, and the way the game's universe is built through emails and datacubes is genius.

Thief 1&2 - The way they built these games to make you feel vulnerable is incredible.

Omnikron: The Nomad Soul - The gameplay/controls on this one are super clunky on this one by today's standards, but the concept of shifting into other people's bodies is so cool, and it's the only game I know of with a soundtrack by David Bowie.

Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 - the ultimate game to play with your mouse in one hand and a beer in the other. I mostly play the fairly easy missions as I don't think the game becomes more fun when you're constantly on the verge of failure. I don't think there's a more relaxing thing in the world.

I am not that interested in XV. The whole concept looked marginally more appealing to me when it was called Versus but I am not sold on the guys who look like they work in Kabukicho on the road concept. the only SE bros on the road I would be interested in a prequel to X with Jecht, Auron and Braska. Then again, Toriyama would most likely direct it....

Speaking of video games to look forward to:

Almost there. Just a few more release delays. I really hope Ueda will continue making games.

It seems to shape up to be what you'd expect from Team Ico. I really don't get the people moaning about the controls. First of all, you can switch them to what you are used to and second, what is wrong with learning different mechanics? I am mad excited for Toriko and that he can get annoying because he is unresponsive. He is an AI after all.

                  And it looks bloody gorgeous.

Ueda games are always a breath of fresh air.

Do you think it will live up the expectations after all these years?
                    Same goes for FFXV.

There is no way. This goes for both games. TLG isn't exactly what most people would expect from a AAA title in 2016.

As for FF. I think it would have been better to toss out Versus and let Tabata have a shot at coming up with his own material. It seems to be the Frankenstein equivalent of a video game. I expect it to be decent for FF standards.

The story of ff15 will suck for sure. I don't get it with japanese videogames story's telling. The protagonist are either unlikeable whiners or acting like they're sort of space aliens.

As for tlg I hope I'm wrong. With triple a gaming sucking so much lately I wanna see something good for a change. If not at least there's a bunch of indies I haven't got time to play.

^^They are also almost always teenagers who act like they are at least a decade older and save the world. Not to say that western developed games are a pinnacle of storytelling either. I don't even know if video games are suited for that sort of thing.

                          Anyway, some more TLG

gameplay with someone who actually knows what they are doing

This is the first time in years I've actually been excited for a game. And what's even better it looks exactly like I want this game to look. I love that the boy seems awkward and wobbly and that he needs Toriko to help him fight. And while I know that there are graphically more clean and impressive games out there this looks so much more beautiful to me than all the Witchers and Uncharteds out there. Toriko has to be the best and most complex animated creature in video games do far. I Can't believe this is finally coming out. I still remember when it was an "unannounced Sony exclusive" and all we had was that still of the well with a chain. Was that 2008? the main reason I bought a PS3 was to play this game

I must respectfully disagree with you there. Video game is perfect for exciting story telling. Indies and some AAA studios has been good at doing this these past few years.

                              Story telling using game mechanic.
Interactive narrative nature of video games can really draw you in and mess with your head. Just look at the game like Undertale or Spec Ops: The line. The former uses video games classic rules and mechanics to mess with your head. Also Undertale is in my opinion of how video games characters should be done. Every characters even the small bits one has their own personality, hopes and dreams. They all got their personal arc, the grown and learn things. This is something FF should take notes. I know that FF has always been in medias res when it comes to characterization. However it doesn't take a much to make characters engaging and in turn makes us, the player invested in their journey. Undertale also intergrated their characters and story telling withing its game mechanic. "combat" can be as whimsical or as intense as the person you're fighting personality. You can also add Demon/Dark Souls and Bloodbourne to this as well.

                              The "cinematic" story telling
As for Spec ops. This is a great example of what cinematic story telling in games shoud be. Using combination of so call cut scenes and environmental designs to tell its story. This is a game where you're seeing things from the perspective of a damaged individual and the player are being herded through his personal nightmare. The atrocities that are committed throughout the game are always the part where you're in control doing all the horrible things. The environment reinforces the herding through nightmare thing by weird flashes of things you're seeing and hearing that others clearly cant see/hear.

I am aware that movies has been doing this forever but the I still think that the interactive nature of video games does it better by you know being interactive. It draws you in better since you're the one responsible to push forward.

Not to say that Japanese games cant do this. Silent Hill 2 does both of these points as well. You're being herded through nightmares, you're a normal schlubb who cant fight your way out of danger to saves your own life. ect ect.

Gonna have to cut this short for now. If you're interested i will elaborate further.

I feel like i lost my passion for gaming. Sold psp, ps3. Not gaming at all.
May be purchase of ps4 will bring my passion back? we will see.

Missing good ol' times of binge gaming when i was younger. But now have no time for it.
