Beatrice Inn eh, is that the new rage on the streets of NY these days

man they're goin everywhere with these names...that place sounds like somewhere I'd stop for a nap in Kentucky while driving cross country.

      Cheap stuff:
Gotta hit up Rafiqi's for awesome ethnic street food. Get the gyros..heaven.
      Katz's for amazing pastrami sandwiches
Sullivan Street bakery for their flatbread pizzas

      Mid-range:
Ino's for their truffled egg toast
      Gramercy Tavern for brunch
      Jean-George's for lunch

      Above mid-range? haha
Blue Hill NYC– if you dont LOVE veggies, I'm sure you'll have a change of heart here :P
      Babbo's

      Highway Robbery $$$$$:
      Per Se. Game over.

D_S: Like you, I've found 11 Madison to be pretty disappointing.. very mediocre fare for the price. Though I also found Masa to be just alright for the amount they charge. Urasawa (who happens to be Masa's protege) totally kicks Masa's ass :P

I went for lunch to 11 and loved the food. I wouldn't go back though, and I wouldn't be caught dead in Jean-George's, not because the food is not good, but what the fuck is with every high end restaurant and their suffocating atmosphere. It's like they pour invisible douche from their ceilings. Seriously, no food is worth it.

Americans love to ape french restauration which can be very formal and, according to some, joyless. Your mileage may vary.

Have the time machine drop you off. It reached it's peak quite some time ago.

lol yeah i'm quite out of the loop...i haven't been to New York since 2006, even that was just a brief stay.

I've never actually ventured into NY "nightlife" at all.

I thought I have sensed disturbance in the force.

yeah from friends i've spoken to who have lived there for quite a while it sounds pretty passe. I guess I just wanted to see what the hype about the 'center of the universe' as far as Studio 54, Marquee, Bungalow 8, all those velvet ropes was about.

A funny thing somebody once told me was, "the cool people in new york stay indoors"
