^ oh man those dogs are hard on the soul but certainly delicious. In the earlier days of PDT it was a good time and good combo. Not sure what has become of PDT as of late though.
Every time I read the title to this thread I think that someone is looking for prostitutes in new york... is it just me?
I went for lunch to 11 and loved the food. I wouldn't go back though, and I wouldn't be caught dead in Jean-George's, not because the food is not good, but what the fuck is with every high end restaurant and their suffocating atmosphere. It's like they pour invisible douche from their ceilings. Seriously, no food is worth it.
Seriously, despite the fact that I came in saturday at 1:30 wearing a bowler hat, high tops with jeans tucked in, the rinen Damir Doma shirt that has fucking ripped in the back after one day of wear (returning that shit to A) and the most wasted look they treated me so nice and were so friendly the entire time - everyone really. I havent been around all the baller places in NY (but certainly had my share of suffocating michelin restaurants) but Jean Georges' has consistently been the f***** shit for $24.
i am obviously biased since i am from venezuela, but you have to have an arepa at Caracas Arepa Bar. gots to.
AREPAAAASSSS!!!!
oh man... i loved how when i went to florida they had arepa stands on the side of the road. made me so happy. never seen a single venezuelan restaurant (hard enough finding another venezuelan) in Western Canada...
iVenezolanos represent!

Cheap stuff:
Gotta hit up Rafiqi's for awesome ethnic street food. Get the gyros..heaven.
Katz's for amazing pastrami sandwiches
Sullivan Street bakery for their flatbread pizzas
Mid-range:
Ino's for their truffled egg toast
Gramercy Tavern for brunch
Jean-George's for lunch
Above mid-range? haha
Blue Hill NYC– if you dont LOVE veggies, I'm sure you'll have a change of heart here :P
Babbo's
Highway Robbery $$$$$:
Per Se. Game over.
D_S: Like you, I've found 11 Madison to be pretty disappointing.. very mediocre fare for the price. Though I also found Masa to be just alright for the amount they charge. Urasawa (who happens to be Masa's protege) totally kicks Masa's ass :P
Never been to Babbo but ive heard many good things, gotta get around to it out next time im in NYC.
Also never been to Urasawa but if his skills are similar to Masas he should have the upper hand based on his location. West coast vs East coast is not really fair here :)

I used to eat at dino-bbq regularly back in Rochester. Fucking amazing. I used to get the "sweethearts meal for two"..... And eat it all myself. Glorious.
