Didn't know that they exported that much. And maybe the price and location don't have a direct link. But I don't think it's a coincident that they are located where they are (in context). :)

      kitchen porn

      new logica system by valcucine.

i believe the top doors open out and the bottom doors slide inside the base? the cutting board slides across the entire width of the table on rails. the condiment racks swing out and god know what other things this kitchen can do.

but the rice cooker is really ugly..

That's nice! I like the sliding doors, could come in handy in corners. Although I don't know if any of the mid priced fabricants have these solutions. I probably only gonna look at IKEA, Kvik or HTH.

The grey fronts made me re-think my original all white scheme. Grey probably would look good with black floor.

i'm not sure what falls under mid-price fabricants these days. there's a company called viola park (henry built) that supplies custom made kitchens.

their rule of thumb is that the home owner spends on average 8% of the value of their home in remodeling their kitchen. as low as 5 and as high as 15%.

We believe in creating a new level of relaxed order, quality and pleasure while cooking, socializing and just...living. And we want to make it easier to achieve in your own home. To give you this experience, we’ve designed a unique – and uniquely functional - set of products that gives you a complete system, functional innovation, and premium quality.

it's still bloody expensive and that's not including labor..

well, the ones I mentioned might not even qualify for mid-range, maybe cheap-range. I only have place for two-three floor cabinets and one or two wall cabinets, IKEA would probably sell that for like €500, Kvik maybe €1000-1500.

doldrums, are you looking into viola park/henry built?
i've been to the nyc showroom a few times to browse. it's nice stuff but i'm still not ready to drop that kind of cash..

bestial, no kvik in US. i have trouble finding middle range. it's either ikea or $$$ boutique shops..

there's another place in the us that does custom cabinets/anything out in seattle. not the prettiest but it's moderately priced. the shipping is outrageous. i asked for a quote and the shipping was a real deal breaker..

and some appliance porn, gaggenau induction cooktop with touchscreen interface. it recognizes the size of your cookwear and heats that specific shape.seems too complicated. i just want an old fashioned AGA..

I think Ikea cabinets are a pretty good bang for the buck, I used them in a previous apartment I lived in (picked the cheapest matte white front) and they worked out nicely combined with a higher quality countertop and appliances.

That's next level stoves. I don't cook enough to justify an expensive kitchen.

But if we skip that, and just focus on that stove, it do terminate the problem I have with flat glass top stoves, that you don't really see where you're suppose to put the damn cookwear. A friday evening, after a few beers, you're doing pasta and are suppose to see small grey dots on a black glass top in dimmed light, no sir.

Edit, in regard to lowrey's post - we have this site in sweden, I don't know their policy to send abroad, but they to custom made fronts to IKEA cabinets http://www.pickyliving.se/

My parents have always had IKEA kitchens, and they have worked out great. You don't really wear down fronts etc. in my experience. It's the countertops and appliances that gets worn out.

yea we are - basically plan is to spend next few years planning out the house so it makes sense in the end...hopefully by then can save enough to start doing some renovations -> mostly kitchen, opening a wall for a big window, some fixtures. hopefully i have the stamina to work enough overtime to afford it!

^^ good luck man. it's very rewarding to get your home to look and feel the way you want it- and it brings much value to your property.

i made the mistake of putting in a cheap kitchen (didn't have the money back then) and now i just want to rip it out and start over again. but i'm not convinced i want to keep my place- and if i sell it, i would get more if i had put in a better kitchen..

regarding ikea cabinetry, i have a very tall free-standing cabinet in the kitchen that i can't wait to get rid of. it doesn't take wear well and the back has that paper-thin board that drives me nuts. just charge me another $50 for a solid back..

well my kitchen cost me under 2% of the value of the property and thats including everything from the worktop, taps, sink cooker, even plates.

I drew mine out and got it bespoke made, even the worktop done by a steel maker, 3.2m sink welded and polished in. Also the cupboard go back further than normal to make full use of the space i also have hidden droors, washing machine tucked in there, its more than enough room. I need to find a decent centre light shade and some old old wood for some shelves but that stuff can come when i find them.
Its not totally done but im happy with it now; it suits me and is simple.

Looks nice Snafu! I like kitchens without wall cabinets. The metal top is sweet. I've always thought that I was going to get one made out of oak or something, but now that I've lived with metal tops for some times you get used to it - and how easy it is to clean.

How's the single sink working out for you? I've been brought up with having two sinks, one to clean in, and one to wash it of before drying it.

Sink is good its huge so i can fit my wok, le creuset, even dye fabric in it. Im lol'ing at the upside down beer can draining in it. I have one of those taps that can extend out which i hadn't seen until i started looking for taps; so im loving that.

Yeh with out wall cabinets it makes it feel much bigger.

I just thought about this, you maybe should look into a glass or plexi cover for the walls surrounding your stove. Must get dirty there?

                                Bad example, but anyways
