Watched SlumDog myself last saturday: definitely lives up its expectations. The scene where the orphan boy is sedated and blinded stayed with me for the succeeding days.

Eagle vs. Shark (New Zealand) is an enjoyable comedy, and especially appreciated if you're a fan of napoleon dynamite.
