carol sometimes puts separate elastic pieces that have buttons on each end and can shorten the waist once put into the various button holes in the waistband
What you're saying sounds different from the cloth drawstring that has buttonholes and buttons at each end correct? If there is truly another elastic piece, then I might need to go back to Maxfields and ask for it? Maybe it's sitting in the back room or something.

            Re: Carol Christian Poell

It's not elastic, it is cotton or a cotton blend of some kind. You put one button in a hole and then scrunch up the waist till you reach the other hole and it tightens the waist. I've never had to use it as my pants fit pretty dead on but it's kind of a cool idea.

Picked them up last Tuesday I think? They still have a size 50. They also had some oversized trousers, some dressy trousers, stiff box seam grey pants (awesome, i'd of got these if they had my size). Didn't bother to try on the blazers (don't have the $ now) but I did try on a bluish green leather jacket--thank God that I don't think Poell's leathers work for me.

Oh shit, I need to go back then and ask them for this! Could someone do me a favor and take a pic of this piece?? It would help me when I go back there and they have to fish around the stock room.

                Thanks for your help guys!

my 2 cents on the perforated gloves mentioned a few posts back - AMAZING! Lucky I have long-ish fingers 'coz I've heard they don't fit all comers. I love the color & it looks to my untrained eye like every stitch on these suckers has been done by hand (except maybe the wrist band). I think I'm addicted to the smell - mmmmmm, kangaroo flavour. Do your hands get clammy & sweaty? nope. Does the cold wind whistle through those little holes? yes, yes it does. Do I care? nope. were they expensive? Well, put it this way, they were exactly half the price of those Hermes pecary skin gloves Ilooked atlast winter.

Carol's new technique for leather. Introduced it F/W 07/08 on a couple of pieces. Now perfected and carrying through with the process on most leather pieces for the upcoming season. Object tanning!!! [:O] F/W 08/09 is going to be SICK!!!!!

BTW Faust, this is what we had (almost) briefly discussed a little while back...

if i understand correctly, this means he will stitch raw bloody hides together, before they've been treated at all?! [:O]

[74][86]That'd be crazy. I could actually envision Poell doing this..haha. I believe what he is doing is taking rawhide (cleaned, stretched and dried skin) and constructing the pieces with it. Once the piece is done, he tans (altars the protein structure to stabilize the skin's properties) and object dyes (colors) the piece. So the piece is also object dyed as well. Its a much more difficult process and I am not entirely privy to all the benefits of it, but its exciting to know a new process has been undertaken. The one thing I have noticed in the difference of object tanned leather pieces is that there appears to be changes in the texture of the leather that are purely illusory. So greater control of the aesthetic and textural qualities may be achieved in the final product...i.e. the appearance of wrinkles that are not there. You see them, but the surface is smooth. Its fucking amazing.
