I think the material was used for the conceptual reason, representing one of the phase changes,
the transition between glassy state and rubber state,
the coat and blouson in fiberglass that there is potentially in the reversed/opposite direction of DIP-R series, of course in a figurative sense though.
      one form and another,
to illustrate the disparate phases of a substance and that they are the selfsame thing no matter how different they appear.

Fabric code is a joke. Menthol cigarettes... fiberglass. Eh?

this whole thread sometimes looks like big joke.

tried to find info about "fabric" and what it means. no luck.

menthol is widely used to relieve minor throat irritation... and what happens if you breathe in fibreglass dust?

                it's just a fun joke

Of course I don't know in how far the fabric names are based on some kind of links, jokes or quotes etc. or anything else in that direction.

I also don't know what TAR means... I think crouka/runner could surely give some kind of interesting input on the choice of fabric names based on the past collections of Poell. However I guess nobody really knows exactly how he chooses his fabric names.

one side of the fabric is called TAR and if produced with the other side out, it is called RAT.

i talked with Sergio once about where these names come from and he said Carol personally names them all. sometimes the references are obvious (especially if you speak German) sometimes he said he has no idea where they come from . . . and that sometimes he is not so sure even Carol does.

Few pages back there was a discussion about the construction of the new dead end jeans. The pattern is seen at the CCP exhibition at Lift. One piece for almost entire pants.

I see masochism in the cut and proportions sometimes; not always, of course.

The cut of the coat seems proportional/non-distorting. File it under materials.
I agree, the emphasis seems to be on the material. That is certainly what caught my eye when I first saw the coat. Nice sheen, weave, and color. I would be curious to see whether it creases and distresses with wear. The cut and lining make it wearable, though it may not be practical to wear it frequently.
