I want to alter the crotch, ass and waist of mine to fit about a size smaller, but the tailor I used said it was impossible without wrecking the pants. He just tapered them down the inside leg and they are still a little roomy up top.

Do you think it's worth checking with another tailor, should something like that be fairly doable?

May as well check, but that's major alteration, I wouldn't classify as "fairly doable."

the simplest way to get the whole ass+waist area smaller could be making darts somewhere down from the waist, I did this with a pair of jeans:



the waist was fine for me so I just took the seat and upper thighs in, but the darting could just be extended to the waistband. I'm not sure if it would work with what you wanted, but this at least is fairly easy to do.

Yes Albert is correct about the DRKSDW jeans
i did alter mine, the problem with the Jeans is that the pattern is not well made, the Angle of the "Fly hook" (where the pants curve from the buttonfly to under the crotch ) is incorrect, and results in too much fabric in the front of the pants, most talilors wont take in this challenge as it is Major work to take the pants apart, recut them and find matching threads (in weight and color) to put them back together,
my only advice is if yiu can go one size down this should help as the problem gets wose in bigger sizes.................
