    Re: Men's Footwear

I understand that it's a risk... but it worked out really nice in the end. I was recommended to do so by JoJo when I bought them. He showed me his CDiem shoes that he was wearing that had it done. It makes sense anyways especially once it gets icy/snowy out. Worn down leather soles do nothing but slip all over the place. I'll take a photo this afternoon so you can see how it was done for my boots. It's much less disturbing than it sounds.

no, it's just that the ccp shoes have this on the bottom (which will of course peel away)

I understand your pain. I winced when i saw the cobbler slash the pristine soles of my chloe wedges with a red crayon, lol.

However, anyone who loves shoes will tell you MUST do it! You must take care of the shoes, especially when they are asnice as these. I've seen women refuse to get zipsoles on their Christian Louboutins because of the red sole...of course, the beauty of the red sole is nothing compared to the sole of the CCPs. But the thing is, any distinctive feature on a leather sole will disappear almost immediately upon contact with a sidewalk. Aesthetically, the wearing-offis a beautiful idea, of course, but it's really bad for your shoes.

Tell the cobbler to put the rubber just on the toe and heel--the parts that really wear. You'll still be able to see the label, which is the best part in this case. I wouldn't even think twice about it. And i promise, i'm not just saying this as a girl--my boyfriend has ruined plenty of shoes because he didn'treinforce the soles. [;)]

Edit: Just to add--make sure you go to a nice cobbler, the best in town, if possible. These guysappreciate a nice shoe when they see one, and they will take care of it.

Totally agree. It is a pleasure to take your items to an artisan - there is almost a spiritual connection between them and the things they make/fix.

I love the boots with the strings in the back. Excellent. Thanks, all.

The Margiela ones are so ugly in my opinion. They just look and
feel like someone took them out of the dumpster and put a $700 sticker
price on them as a big joke.

Rick Owens horse leather boots that seem very appropriate for this thread. I found these on eBay, and would consider given the price ($375), but they're only a size 42, just a pinch too small ;-(
