From WWD: To call it a fashion frenzy would be an understatement. The Isabel Marant for H&M VIP shopping event held at the store’s Fifth Avenue flagship in New York Tuesday evening was a demonstration of survival of the fittest. Or, as campaign model Milla Jovovich said, “H&M should have 911 on standby.”

Customers pushed each other aside to get any piece of the affordable merch, with some of them stripping mannequins naked, prompting a staff member to stand guard.

Even Jovovich got in on the madness herself, snagging coats and sweaters and passing them off to her two assistants to hold. “I’m stealing this,” she told fellow shoppers. Now that she lives in Los Angeles full time, Jovovich laughed at her desire for cold-weather items, justifying that “75-degree weather is cold enough.”

2013: the year everyone was a foodie and a fashionista after having been a graphic designer and a DJ. The days everyone was in a band are long forgotten. People don't ever bother having occupational dreams anymore, they're smarter than that: they want to be included as consumers.

Who are the masses? Do you think the emotional relationship with celebrities is simply based on looking up to them?

over consumerists in general. everyone from the low to the high class can intensely consume, how democratic. and of course not, it's the hyperreal image constantly projected that allows for connection, the 'my god, how could someone so famous say something like that' reaction. not with any condemnation, but fascination.

“Everyone here is such a fashion zombie!” - just found this gem from the lady herself. it almost sounds self aware.
