I agree with you about what they're doing, for sure. The thing is, the Republicans certainly want to win, no matter how I feel about them. From the political perspective it seems baffling. She's a good fit on the ideology front.

Don't be too sure of this. Some people theorize that they're hoping for a Carter/Regan succession. McCain may be an intentional lame duck.

BTW, I am not so sure McCain is such a hawk. I believe he is a great student of Eisenhower, who warned the public that the USA becoming an economic-military complex. Watch a documentary called Why We Fight - he talks a bit about his position there.

Anyway, it doesn't matter to me. My position is that you don't just pick a President, you pick a party. I am much more concerned with the state of the Supreme Court - having more Democrat justices on the bench to me is more important than any f-ing political decision that comes out of the executive branch. So, yea, it's all Dems for me.

Amen on the Supreme Court. To me that's one of the most lasting impacts of any president's term. All these hot button issues (taxes, oil drilling, immigration, health care, gay marriage) will disappear a year from now.

Besides the obvious, this story shows how brilliant of a politician Obama is. Rather than taking the opportunity to make some quips that everyone is thinking already, he defends and actually almost sides with the McCain camp against the media. This makes him look even better than if he went on the attack. I'd say he was taking the moral high road, but being as it's inextricably linked to political motive, I'll say he's just playing politics--just really well.

Here we go again - this is what Palin's teleprompter said last night while she was talking about terrorism: "Terrorist states are seeking new-clear weapons without delay." I agree that the threat of new-clear weapons is quite frightening...if they're clear, how will we see them?!?!

Still, she did a good job...it's frightening how smoothly those bullshit attack lines go down when delivered in that midwestern-ah yup you betcha-mom voice of hers.
