What is the difference between a prototype, a production sample and a sample? Is the prototype a version that never went to production? Are the production samples used by the designers to determine the quality of the producing factory? And how do these terms relate to the quality of the product?
Also I'm interested in what kind of version is usually used for the runway. These are mostly prototypes right? Can you buy these items and expect the same quality as in the normal retail version?

The production sample is what gets sent to the factory to base the final sample off of. The sample is used in runway shows and exhibitions. Samples are generally the same quality as the final product, but there are instances where some problem came up in the sample and later gets corrected in the final product. Alternatively, you might see some extra details in the sample that ended up just being too expensive or difficult to recreate in the final product.
I am not certain, but I am assuming the prototype would be experiments in piecing together the garment prior to submitting the final idea for production.

Just wondering:
I'm not sure, if it's the right place to post this, but anyway:
Let's say I'll order two pairs of 84000yen Julius boots from Japan via JapanProxy or some other similar delivery service.
Could someone give me a hint how much the cargo, custom fees plus the deliverycharges would be.
I understand this varies from case to case and also where they're shipping the items.
Let's say... Northern Europe.
I have no clue, so that's why I'm asking.
Thanks!modern man
