what?! It's quite the opposite for me.I saw it twice in the cinema, which is probably the first time I've ever done that. My favourite film of the year so far, by far. Haven't seen the DDL one yet, but will do. Not sure why they are always compared to one another though, apart from their being released at broadly the same time. TLJ is brilliant though. I'm not really a fan of his, but I thought he brought a real understated intelligence and dignity to that role.</P>

On Lynch, I totally agree with the positive comments. Mulholland Drive and, even more so, Lost Highway, are amazing. Eraserhead is too, although in a different way. I find it too almost difficulttowatch, so claustrophobic and relentlessly bleak. I have only watched Inland Empire once and confess to finding it largely incomprehensible. Dern is fantastic, intense, totally nuts. </P>

That's interesting to hear, Johnny. What did you like about NCFOM? I think you are write about why they are compared - merely same release time. There's been quite a few articles on how the Hollywood calendar year goes - 9 months of shit, and then 3 pre-Oscar months where all the good stuff comes out in order to be nominated, which creates some annoyance.</p>

EDIT: by the way, I didn't think NCFOM was bad by any means. I just don't think it was great.

was finally able to sit and watch this - wow. i loved the music throughout. and the last scene was absolutely amazing. "I AM THE THIRD REVELATION!!!!"</p>

The only thing I did not care for was the disconnect between seeing his son and Mary play and then cut to them getting married. Not sure that it could have been done any other way, but was a little disruptive to me.</p>

                          Re: import/export

Wim Wenders' Notebook on Cities and Clothes - Watching this was kind of transcendent...if anyone ever wanted to understand the life and work of Yohji Yamamoto I cannot think of a more definitive piece. Also the chance to really see how one of the most interesting perspectives on modern style and fashion is dissected; it is very hard to look at clothing the same way after this, particularly for those who may not have been fond of YY's work.. Actually it is one of my favorite films ever I can say now, several times during the thing I nearly felt like crying, never have I seen something that struck me to the core nerve of who I am. I feel like it has provided a lot of validation and justification for my existence, and not just clothes-wise, definitely not. Wim and Yohji are definitely kindred souls...
