    that's true about RO. Still, I still sense (of course, I don't have statistics) that recent articles in NYT and New Yorker, etc. have widened the market. But, yea, you are right - it is an amazing and unique success story. Remember my blog post pondering this? I still don't have an answer.

      Yeah, that's certainly a possibility. I was thinking that he's perhaps more like Ann Dem, in that his mainstream popularity is bound to be somewhat cyclical--i.e., to come and go with trends. But he's also more a designer of basics than Ann, so that might put him in a different category altogether.



      As I understand it, the Olsen sisters have been ripping him off with their "designs" for The Row. [79]




      ...I mean the ephemeral, the fugitive, the contingent, the half of art whose other half is the eternal and the immutable.

                        haha yeah maybe not so much fun to deal with in person, but from these stories he sounds like quite the funny character. Soup nazi comparison was a good one "no fashion for you!"
